Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the Ministerial Meeting on “Financing a New Decade of Development for Landlocked Developing Countries”

On July 2, in Seville, on the sidelines of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, Deputy Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the Ministerial Meeting of Landlocked Developing Countries, held under the Theme “Financing a New Decade of Development for Landlocked Developing Countries”.

In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the systemic vulnerability of landlocked countries (LLDCs), emphasizing the importance of targeted actions by UN bodies to adequately address their development needs. In this context, the importance of concerted efforts by the international community was emphasized, particularly in advancing infrastructure development and promoting inclusive economic growth within the LLDC group.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the Awaza Programme of Action sets a clear framework of measures and commitments aimed at addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by the LLDC group. Robert Abisoghomonyan stressed the issue of inadequate financing for transport infrastructure, which continues to hinder the effective implementation of the Programme’s objectives.

Touching upon the principles of inclus ive connectivity, open borders and mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan presented the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative of the Government of Armenia, reiterating the commitment of Armenia to promoting peace and cooperation in the region.
