Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the BSEC Member States

On June 27, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks via videoconference at the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the role of the Organization as a platform for political dialogue and exchange of best practice in the region, and reiterated Armenia's proposals on reforming the BSEC's existing regulations in order to strengthen the effectiveness of the Organization's work.

The Deputy Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the components of open borders, unhindered movement of people, goods and services and inclusive economic cooperation that fall under the BSEC mandate.

The Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed Armenia's constructive and effective engagement within the Organization aimed at promoting peace, stability, security, cooperation and sustainable development in the Black Sea region and beyond.

Touching upon the agenda of the Republic of Armenia aimed at cooperation and connectivity in the region, the Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to unblock all regional communications, based on respect for the sovereignty and national jurisdiction of all respective countries, as well as the principles of equality and reciprocity. In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented the Government of Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative as a platform for regional cooperation and an important confidence building measure.
