On June 26, during the official visit to China Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Wang Yi, Member of the State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. The ministers delivered opening remarks.

The agenda of the meeting covered a wide range of issues, including efforts to develop bilateral relations between Armenia and China, as well as international and regional topics.

In the context of bilateral relations, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the significant results achieved through developing cooperation in various fields. Ararat Mirzoyan and Wang Yi both emphasized the political will to form a broader and more comprehensive agenda through joint efforts, including the establishment of a strategic partnership, encompassing high-level political dialogue, economy, infrastructure projects, and humanitarian cooperation.

Upcoming high-level engagements and issues of cooperation within the frameworks of international organizations were touched upon. Minister Mirzoyan conveyed to Wang Yi Armenia’s position on expanding its engagement within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

In the context of developing international partnerships, Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s balanced and balancing foreign policy and the evolving relations through diversification. In the context of expanding regional connectivity, the compatibility of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative and Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” program was underscored, as well as the significant potential of the South Caucasus to serve as a bridge between Asia and Europe.

Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s vision for establishing peace in the South Caucasus. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia highly values China’s principled approach to establishing peace in the region, based on key principles, including respect for territorial integrity. The Armenian Foreign Minister outlined the latest discussions aimed at concluding the Agreement on establishing interstate relations and peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
