16 April, 2025On April 16, at the MFA of Armenia, Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, who was paying an official visit to Yerevan. The ministers first held a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by discussions in an enlarged format with the participation of their delegations.
During the enlarged meeting, Minister Mirzoyan stated:
- "Madam Minister, dear colleagues, good morning and welcome to Armenia. It is a great pleasure to host you here in Armenia. We often meet on various international platforms and have the opportunity to exchange views. However, I believe you will agree that bilateral visits provide a broader opportunity to delve deeper and discuss bilateral, regional, and international agendas, as well as to give new impetus to our cooperation. I am pleased to host and welcome you here."
In turn, Tanja Fajon emphasized:
- "Thank you very much. I would also like to express my gratitude for the wonderful hospitality shown in your country. This is my first official visit to Armenia. As you mentioned, our regular meetings provide an opportunity for open and sincere dialogue, both on bilateral matters and the common challenges we face. I must say that a very warm friendship has developed between us and our two countries. I hope that after today’s and yesterday’s meetings, we will have the opportunity to speak about further deepening the cooperation between our two countries, especially in today’s extremely complex geopolitical context. Again, thank you for this opportunity, and I look forward to our discussions today."
Following the meeting, the ministers held a joint press conference.
As part of the visit, Minister Fajon, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan, visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. The high-ranking Slovenian official paid tribute to the memory of the victims, toured the memorial museum, and left a note in the guestbook of honor.
