Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Kazakhstan

27 March, 2025

On March 27, during his official visit to Kazakhstan, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu.

A tête-à-tête meeting took place between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Kazakhstan, which was followed by discussion in an enlarged format with the participation of delegations from both countries.

At the beginning of the enlarged meeting, Minister Mirzoyan stated in his remarks:

Dear Minister Nurtleu,

Dear colleagues,

I sincerely thank you for the invitation to visit the Republic of Kazakhstan on an official visit, as well as for the warm welcome and hospitality.

First and foremost, allow me to extend my congratulations on the recent celebration of Nauryz and to wish you new achievements, prosperity and success.

This is my first official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan as Foreign Minister. I am confident that today’s discussions will provide an excellent opportunity for a substantive exchange of views on the entire spectrum of the bilateral agenda, as well as on pressing regional and international issues.

Last year marked an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations between our states. It was filled with reciprocal visits at the highest and high levels, as well as numerous joint events, giving a necessary impetus to our cooperation in various fields. Of particular significance was the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Armenia – the first since 2001 – followed by the visit of the President of Armenia, symbolizing the beginning of a new stage in the deepening of our friendship and cooperation.

I am confident that this year we will continue to strengthen our bilateral partnership, expanding the horizons of mutually beneficial cooperation across a broad range of areas, including trade and economy, culture and humanitarian spheres.

The Republic of Armenia highly values its partnership with the Republic of Kazakhstan and is committed to making efforts toward its further dynamic deepening. We proceed from the understanding that this is a mutually beneficial endeavor.

Our states are united in their aspiration to strengthen sovereignty and independence, enhance transit potential and modernize national economies. All these factors provide a solid foundation for expanding our partnership.

Yerevan and Astana often share either identical or very similar positions on a number of key international and regional issues.

It is evident that strengthening regional stability through the implementation of peaceful initiatives also aligns with our common goals.

I find it necessary to emphasize that Armenia has been and remains committed to the peace agenda in the South Caucasus. You are personally well aware of this from our previous engagements, as you hosted the meeting between myself and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan in Almaty last year. I would like to highlight that we appreciate the statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan regarding the conclusion of negotiations on the Peace Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. As you know, Armenia has proposed signing the agreed-upon agreement, which could serve as a breakthrough on the path to establishing peace in our region.

Dear Minister, I propose that during today’s meeting, we focus in detail on the key areas of further cooperation, especially in light of the upcoming bilateral contacts, including at the highest level.

Once again, I express my gratitude for the invitation and the traditionally warm welcome”.

Following the meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan and Murat Nurtleu made statements for the press.

Minister Mirzoyan made an entry in the book of honorary guests of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
