Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Hungary
11 November, 2024On November 11, the first political consultations after the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Hungary were held in Budapest.
The Armenian delegation was headed by Paruyr Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, while the Hungarian delegation was led by Péter Sztáray, the State Secretary of Hungary. The parties discussed the possibilities for further developing the bilateral agenda, exchanged views on regional issues and emphasized the need to expand the bilateral legal framework. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening relations in trade, economy, culture, education, tourism, and other areas.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on efforts to deepen Armenia's partnership with the EU, with particular focus on cooperation with Hungarian partners.
Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan also touched upon the steps taken by Armenia towards promoting peace in the South Caucasus, as well as the recent discussions in the process of normalisation of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
