On April 15, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan had a meeting with the newly appointed UN Permanent Coordinator in Armenia, Francoise Jacob, on the occasion of presenting copies of her credentials.

The Deputy Minister congratulated Francoise Jacob on assuming the responsible position of the permanent coordinator and wished her success in all her initiatives aimed at ensuring the stable social and economic development of Armenia.

The interlocutors touched upon the activities of the UN Office in Armenia and the programs implemented by the UN agencies operating in Armenia. The parties expressed readiness to continue active cooperation in the direction of effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Armenia.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia provided to his counterpart a detailed overview regarding the humanitarian issues of the forcibly displaced people due to the ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan. The active involvement of the UN Office in Armenia in addressing security, humanitarian, social, economic, educational and employment issues faced by the forcibly displaced refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh was highlighted.
