Deputy Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan received Maxime Longangué, newly appointed Director of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia

On April 5, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan received Maxime Longangué, the newly appointed Director of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia, on the occasion of handing over the original letter of the Council of Europe Secretary General on his appointment.

The Deputy Minister of Armenia congratulated Maxim Longange on assuming the important mission of the Head of the Council of Europe office in Armenia, expressing conviction that the cooperation between the Yerevan office of the Council of Europe with the competent Ministries and structures of the Republic of Armenia aimed at strengthening the democratic institutions in Armenia and achieving consistent reforms will develop with a renewed dynamic.

Paruyr Hovhannisyan commended Armenia's close and effective cooperation with the Council of Europe. He stressed the importance of the successful implementation of the Action Plan for Armenia for the period of 2023-2026 which also contributes to the successful implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the aim of promoting democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the response and the actions of the Secretary General, the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Court and the statutory bodies of the Council of Europe towards addressing humanitarian issues resulting from the regional challenges.

The Deputy Minister briefed his interlocutor on recent regional developments and highlighted Armenia's positions on substantive issues.
