EU EAP Senior Officials meeting

On March 14, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia participated in the Senior Officials meeting of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union in Brussels. The representatives of the European Commission, European External Action Service, EU member states and partner countries also took part in this event.

During the meeting, the Armenian side referred to the challenges emerging in the Eastern Partnership region as a result of recent geopolitical developments and touched upon the need to preserve the viability and inclusiveness of the format.

The importance of addressing the needs and rights of forcibly displaced refugees from Nagorno Karabakh following the Azerbaijani aggression was emphasized. Armenia expressed its gratitude to the European Union and its member states for the  provided humanitarian assistance in order to address their needs.

The Armenian side also presented the “Crossroads of Peace” project  in the context of implementing the new initiatives aimed at further enhancement of regional cooperation. This project will promote regional inclusiveness and pave the way for further strengthening of regional security.

 

The Armenian side touched upon the violation of the values and principles underlying the creation of this format stressing that the security in Europe can not be comprehensive without the respect for human rights and democratic values.
