On November 16 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahe Gevorgyan received Fabian Salvioli, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-recurrence.

Welcoming the guest, the Deputy Foreign Minister underscored the importance and  highly appreciated the cooperation established between Armenia and various UN mechanisms.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the policy implemented by Armenia related to the mandate of the Special Rapporteur. In this context, Armenia’s efforts aimed at preventing genocides and works towards strengthening human rights were particularly stressed. The Special Rapporteur was briefed on the humanitarian situation resulting from the policy of ethnic cleansing pursued by Azerbaijan against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on the gross violations of human rights during the Azerbaijani attacks on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.

The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that Armenia is committed to further strengthening the cooperation with the UN special procedures including through presenting the best international practice and participation in human rights training programs.
