Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Germany

On July 17, the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Germany held regular political consultations in Yerevan. The consultations were headed by Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia while the German side was represented by Matthias Luttenberg, Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia Department of the Federal Foreign Office.

During the consultations, the parties underlined the unprecedented intensification of relations between Armenia and Germany in the current year, taking into account bilateral high-level visits and the enhanced cooperation in different fields.

The sides discussed the consistent development of relations on both bilateral and multilateral platforms as well as highlighted the importance of cooperation in political, economic, educational, cultural, inter-parliamentary and decentralized spheres.

The Deputy Minister touched upon the issues regarding the rights and security of the people of Nagorno Karabakh, stressed the imperative of ending the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and ruling out the threat of use of force.

Matthias Luttenberg was apprised of the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the security situation in the region and Armenia's efforts towards establishing peace in the region.
