Meeting of Ararat Mirzoyan with the Parliamentary Delegation of Argentina

On May 29 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with the parliamentary delegation of members of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies of Argentina, led by the Chair of the Armenia-Argentina Friendship Group Guillermo Andrada.

The interlocutors commended intensifying cooperation between the two countries and expressed willingness to contribute to the positive dynamics of the deepening of the political dialogue. Both sides stressed that this first visit of the Friendship Group in the 31-year history of diplomatic relations can give a new impetus to the further activation of relations in various fields. The interlocutors also highlighted the role of the Armenian community in Argentina in further strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Regional stability and security issues were discussed. Expressing gratitude for the principled positions expressed by the Argentine legislative body on issues of key importance for the Republic of Armenia, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of continuous consistent steps by the international partners. Both sides stressed the importance of the resolution of the humanitarian problems in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Armenian side to establishing lasting peace in the region, for the advancement in that direction Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of fulfilling by Azerbaijan its obligations, the need to renounce warmongering rhetoric containing open threats to territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and addressing issues of the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
