Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the delegation led by the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

On May 3, Mnatsakan Safaryan, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia, received the delegation led by Yuumi Yoshikawa, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Mnatsakan Safaryan emphasized the importance of further development and strengthening of the Armenian-Japanese relations, highlighted the activation of economic cooperation, appreciated the official aid programs implemented in Armenia by the Japanese government and stressed the importance of attracting Japanese investments.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the latest developments regarding the aggressive policy of Azerbaijan towards the Republic of Armenia, as well as the dire humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, and highlighted the necessity of targeted actions of the international community, including Japan, towards the implementation of the Order of the UN International Court of Justice (ICJ).

In her turn, Yuumi Yoshikawa noted that her visit aims at enhancing the Armenian-Japanese dialogue. Referring to the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, Yuumi Yoshikawa expressed her concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, reaffirming the position of official Tokyo on ensuring the freedom and security of movement along the corridor in accordance with the agreements reached by the parties, as well as the provisions of international law.

During the meeting, thoughts were also exchanged on a number of regional issues, Armenian-Japanese cultural and educational exchanges, cooperation in economic and tourism spheres were discussed.
