Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and India

On March 4, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in New Delhi for the “Raisina Dialogue” conference, had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The interlocutors commended the dynamics of deepening the political dialogue between Armenia and India, in this regard, highlighting the role of high-level visits and regular contacts on various platforms.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and India discussed several areas of the bilateral agenda, touching upon the activation of trade and economic cooperation and business ties as well as the development of relations in the fields of high technologies, education, culture, tourism and others.

The importance of intensifying parliamentary ties as well as strengthening the cooperation between the two countries in international multilateral formats was emphasized.

Issues on regional and international security were discussed.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart on the recent developments in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.

The humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan was touched upon. In this context, the need to apply possible mechanisms towards the implementation by Azerbaijan of the decision made by the International Court of Justice on February 22 regarding the request for provisional measures was also stressed.
