Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the President of the National Assembly of France Yaël Braun-Pivet

On January 14, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation led by the President of the National Assembly of France Yaël Braun-Pivet.

Minister Mirzoyan welcomed the first visit to Armenia at the level of the President of the National Assembly of France, stressing that it testifies to the historical friendship based on the common values of the Armenian and French peoples and the high level of bilateral privileged relations.

Issues related to the rich agenda of cooperation between Armenia and France were discussed at the meeting. The close cooperation formed at the inter-parliamentary level was commended, and in this regard, the activities of friendship groups of the legislative bodies of the two countries and the interaction on multilateral platforms were particularly highlighted.

The sides touched upon issues on regional security and stability.

The humanitarian situation, which is deteriorating daily since December 12, 2022, due to Azerbaijan’s blockade of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and the rest of the world - the Lachin Corridor, and the imperative of its resolution, were discussed. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that Azerbaijan, by its continuous actions, seeks to subject the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia expressed his gratitude for France's principled position at different levels and formats in relation to Azerbaijan's aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia and the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
