14 December, 2022

On December 14, in New York Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed the UN Secretary-General on the recent regional developments, particularly on the blockage of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan since December 12, the disruption of gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh and the following serious humanitarian challenges.  The need for a targeted response of the international community to the unfolded situation was underscored.

The Armenian side also touched upon the ongoing occupation of the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia by Azerbaijan, the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that Azerbaijan is continuously pursuing its policy of the use of force or the threat of use of force, warmongering rhetoric and Armeniophobia and maximalist approaches, thus undermining stability and security in the South Caucasus. At the same time, the Foreign Minister of Armenia reiterated Armenia's commitment towards establishing stability and peace in the region.
