Meeting of Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan with Foreign Minister of Spain José Manuel Albares

On May 20, on the margins of the 132nd session of CoE Committee of Foreign Ministers, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Foreign Minister of Spain José Manuel Albares in Turin.

Emphasizing that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Spain, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries referred to the development of friendly relations based on common values, the promotion of political dialogue and high-level mutual visits.

Ararat Mirzoyan commended the decision of the Spanish Government to open a permanent representation in Armenia, which will give a new impetus to cooperation at both political and business levels.

The need to deepen mutually beneficial and effective cooperation between Armenia and Spain on multilateral platforms was stressed.

The sides also touched upon regional and international issues.

Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia's position on the establishment of regional peace and stability and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In the context of the humanitarian issues resulting from the 44-day war, the immediate repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan, as well as the preservation of Armenian religious and cultural heritage in the territories fallen under Azerbaijani control were emphasized.
