Political consultations between Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Belgium

On March 30, Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Belgium held political consultations in Brussels co-chaired by Paruyr Hovhannisian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Jeroen Cooreman, Director-General for Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Belgium.

The sides underlined the constructive dialogue between Armenia and Belgium, and the effective cooperation both on bilateral and multilateral levels. Touching upon trade and economic cooperation, the interlocutors particularly emphasized the importance of the steps to be taken to improve the investment and business environment.

The interlocutors discussed the Armenia-EU partnership agenda, exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest on the international and regional agenda, as well as discussed, the cooperation and mutual support within the international organizations.

The sides also touched upon the current situation around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, the parties highlighted the importance of a full resumption of the NK peace process under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan expressed gratitude for the support of the position of the Belgian House of Representatives, the Senate, the Flemish and Walloon regional parliaments during the Azerbaijani aggression unleashed against Artsakh, as well as for raising the issue by the Belgian government on bilateral and multilateral platforms.

During the visit Deputy Minister Paruyr Hovhannisian attended an event in the European Policy Centre on regional developments.
