The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received the President of the Regional Council of Île-de-France

On December 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation headed by the President of the Regional Council of Île-de-France Valérie Pécresse. The President of the Republican group of the Senate of France Bruno Retailleau also participated in the meeting.

The sides commended the high level Armenian-French privileged relations, based on mutual trust, respect and understanding between the peoples of the two countries. The consistent promotion of the contacts between Armenia and France, as well as the further development of cooperation in education and science, culture and a number of other spheres were highlighted. The interlocutors underlined the role of decentralized cooperation, including between Yerevan and the Île-de-France region, as an important component of strengthening Armenian-French friendly ties.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia also noted that the further expansion of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere is prior for the development of bilateral relations, and the recently signed road map on Armenian-French economic cooperation was an important step in this regard.

Issues of regional security and stability were touched upon during the meeting.

Ararat Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude to the Regional Council of Île-de-France headed by Valérie Pécresse for the resolution passed in November, 2020 on the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as for providing financial assistance to the needs of the population displaced amid the war.

The sides have also discussed humanitarian issues requiring urgent solutions, in particular, the issues of immediate repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees, protection of Artsakh's cultural and religious heritage in the territories fallen under the control of Azerbaijan.
