Meeting of Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan with Foreign Minister of Belgium Sophie Wilmès

On September 24, within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Sophie Wilmès.

The Foreign Ministers discussed issues of strengthening cooperation on bilateral and multilateral platforms and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The interlocutors touched upon regional security and stability issues. In this context, the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship was emphasized.

Ararat Mirzoyan commended the resolutions adopted by the Belgian Senate and the House of Representatives, which supported the political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as the resolution of the House of Representatives, stressing the need for release of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians.

The prospects of Armenia-EU cooperation were also touched upon during the meeting.
