Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Cyprus

On September 23, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in New York to participate in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, met with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

Ministers Mirzoyan and Christodoulides touched upon a number of issues on the Armenian-Cypriot agenda, commending the high level of political dialogue and expressing readiness to further expand the cooperation. In this regard, economy, defense, education and tourism were highlighted as spheres of mutual interest.

The sides also discussed the prospects for further deepening of cooperation in bilateral, trilateral and multilateral formats.

Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed gratitude to the Government of Cyprus for its support and solidarity at a time full of challenges for Armenia and the Armenian people.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Cyprus exchanged views on regional security and stability. The Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed his counterpart on the situation resulting from the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression unleashed against Artsakh. In this regard, Minister Ararat Mirzoyan commended the principled position of brotherly Cyprus.
