The phone conversation of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran

On September 1, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with the newly appointed Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Ararat Mirzoyan and Hossein Amir Abdollahian congratulated each other on assuming the position of the Foreign Ministers of their countries, and expressed hope that with joint efforts they will further develop the Armenian-Iranian comprehensive relations based on centuries-old friendly relations.

The sides touched upon in detail the effective cooperation established between the two countries in bilateral and multilateral platforms. The prospects of expanding cooperation in the economic sphere were especially emphasized. In this regard, the role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran was stressed.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran also stressed the importance of signing and effectively implementing the multilateral agreement on the establishment of the Persian Gulf - Sea International Transport Corridor.

The interlocutors exchanged views on issues of regional and international security.

Ararat Mirzoyan drew his counterpart’s attention to the situation resulting from the illegal infiltration of the armed forces of Azerbaijan into the sovereign territory of Armenia, emphasizing the inadmissibility of such actions, which is a serious threat to regional stability.
