21 August, 2021

Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented the newly appointed Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted:

"Good afternoon, dear attendees.

First of all, I would like to thank Armen Grigoryan for his work as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was a short but important period, when, in my opinion, certain decisions were made, certain benchmarks were set. I would like to congratulate Ararat Mirzoyan and wish him success in the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Our country encounters very serious challenges. These challenges first and foremost include security issues, and in order to manage them and to create a favorable external environment for our country, we need a Ministry of Foreign Affairs - a diplomatic service that will be able to take and share political responsibility for the present and future of the country.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Armen Grigoryan are representatives of our political team, and I believe that especially in this period, the public administration system should work as one whole, one organism. And I'm sure we will.

We have an agenda of major reforms in the public administration system. The most important goal of that agenda is to increase the efficiency of the public administration, to create a system capable of setting and achieving concrete results and goals. And, I think, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the field of diplomatic service, as in other systems of public administration government, we must develop and set specific criteria for the evaluation of work, thus to evaluate the work accordingly.

I would like to once again thank Mr. Grigoryan for his work and wish success to Mr. Mirzoyan; wish success to all of us to properly address the agenda we have and the challenges we encounter.”

Armen Grigoryan thanked Prime Minister Pashinyan for the trust and the Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the joint work and noted: "Mr. Prime Minister, it was a short period, but we managed to proceed in numerous significant matters and achieve success. To be honest, I also have an emotional connection with the Ministry, for which I would like to thank every employee, even those with whom I did not have the opportunity to communicate directly. But I think the work done has been productive.” Armen Grigoryan congratulated Ararat Mirzoyan on assuming the position of Foreign Minister and wished success together with the team of the Foreign Ministry.

The newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan noted:

“Honorable Mr. Prime Minister,

I thank you for Your confidence. Amid the new foreign policy and daily changing security environment created around our country, amid the challenges that existed and in fact have not been resolved for decades as well as the new challenges we confront, it is very demanding and responsible, but yet very honorable for me to assume the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

At this moment, I might only assure you that by combining the best traditions in the Ministry and the system, on one hand, and on the other, by modernizing the transformations that have already become obvious to everyone, we will spare no effort and energy with our daily, hourly, minutely work so that our country overcomes the existing challenges in the best possible way, We will try to make our modest contribution to bring our country to the best possible, safe, peaceful and developing haven.

Thank you again for your trust and for wishes of success. I would also like to thank Mr. Armen Grigoryan, who temporarily suspended his other very important work to ensure the smooth operation of the system.”

The Prime Minister wished fruitful work to the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Staff of the Foreign Ministry for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people.
