Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian met with Secretary of State of France Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne

On April 23, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian held a meeting with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne and the delegation headed by him. Minister Aivazian thanked his counterpart for visiting Armenia to participate in the events dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide as the Special Representative of the President of France. The representative of France stressed that France's commemoration of the Armenian Genocide this year has a special meaning, as it marks the 20th anniversary of France's official recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Minister Aivazian and the Secretary of State Lemoyne touched upon a number of issues on bilateral agenda. Commending the privileged interstate relations based on the friendship of the people of Armenia and France, the interlocutors emphasized their readiness to continue the efforts to further expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

In the context of the programmes aimed at promoting economic cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Secretary of State of the Foreign Affairs of France touched upon the work carried out by the Armenian-French economic cooperation working group and the upcoming projects.

Foreign Minister Aivazian and Secretary of State Lemoyne exchanged views on the issues of regional security and stability. The resumption of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship was emphasized. In this regard, Minister Aivazian drew the interlocutor's attention to the Armenophobic actions of the Azerbaijani leadership and the threats of use of force against the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing that such steps undermine the efforts of the international community towards regional stability and security.

As an issue of urgent addressing in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Both sides highlighted the importance of the immediate repatriation of the prisoners of war and captured civilians, as well as the efforts undertaken by the international community towards preserving the historical-cultural heritage of Artsakh.
