26 March, 2021

On March 26, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian had a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh Arthur Tovmasyan.

The interlocutors commended the close cooperation and regular meetings between the relevant state bodies of Armenia and Artsakh, which provides an opportunity to address the urgent issues in detail and to outline ways to resolve them. In this context the sides mutually highlighted the role of the parliamentary platform.

The main subject of the meeting were the establishment of regional stability, the humanitarian situation in Artsakh, and the addressing of the issues that the Armenians of Artsakh encounter. Touching upon the issue of preservation of historical-cultural heritage in the regions of Artsakh fallen under the Azerbaijani control, the interlocutors strongly condemned the policy of targeting places of worship and deliberate destruction of Armenian historical-cultural heritage by Azerbaijan. Both sides stressed the need for the international community to undertake practical steps towards preserving the Armenian historical-cultural monuments.
