Meeting of Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian with President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan

On March 25, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian held a meeting with President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the President of Artsakh highlighted the importance of regular contacts and consultations between the state bodies of Armenia and Artsakh aimed at resolving the issues the Armenians encounter in the region.

During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the steps being undertaken to overcome the humanitarian, social-economic consequences of the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression in Artsakh, including the needs of the displaced persons. In this regard, both sides emphasized the importance of unimpeded involvement of the international specialized organizations.

In the context of the urgent humanitarian issues, President Harutyunyan and Foreign Minister Aivazian exchanged views on the steps undertaken towards repatriation of the prisoners of war and captured civilians, deeming unacceptable the unnecessary politicization of this humanitarian issue by Azerbaijan.

Both sides underlined the need for final political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. In this regard, the core role of the recognition of the right of the people of Artsakh to life and self-determination in their historical homeland was emphasized.
