Phone conversation of Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

On March 2, Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian held a phone conversation with Josep Borrell, the Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the High Representative of the EU conveyed their congratulations upon the completion of the ratification process of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. Both sides stressed that the full entry into force of the agreement opens new perspectives for the multifaceted partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the EU High Representative also exchanged views on cooperation with the EU and its member states within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, as well as on the schedule of upcoming EaP events.

During the phone conversation, the sides discussed in detail the issues of regional security and stability. The interlocutors exchanged views on the involvement of international partners in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh and the challenges that the Armenians of Artsakh face as a result of that crisis. 

Both sides emphasized the importance of addressing the issues of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.
