Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian met with Foreign Minister of Artsakh Davit Babayan

On February 25 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Davit Babayan.

Ministers Aivazian and Babayan emphasized the importance of further strengthening the cooperation, as well as holding mutual contacts and consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Artsakh aimed at discussing the current agenda issues more effectively and outlining further steps.

The meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Artsakh focused on the humanitarian issues that Armenia and Artsakh encounter as a result of the recent Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression, including the urgent repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war. In the context of the steps being undertaken for stabilizing the socio-economic situation in Artsakh, the need for involving international specialized organizations on the ground was especially highlighted.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the resumption of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship, emphasizing their consensus that the restoration and protection of the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, determination of Artsakh's status based on the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination remain issues of crucial importance in the peace process.
