The phone conversation between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France

On February 11, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian had a phone conversation with Foreign Minister of France Jean-Yves Le Drian. Following the previous contacts, the Foreign Ministers had a comprehensive discussion on the issues of regional stability and security, touched upon the steps being undertaken to address the humanitarian situation in Artsakh and the challenges that the Armenians of Artsakh encounter.

In the context of urgent humanitarian issues, the Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed the issue of repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians, emphasizing the inadmissibility of creating obstacles in that process by Azerbaijan. In this regard, Foreign Minister Aivazian expressed his gratitude to his French counterpart for always keeping the issue on the top of the agenda.

The Foreign Ministers stressed the need to address the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship, and exchanged views on the upcoming schedule of the Co-Chairs.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France also discussed issues on bilateral agenda. The interlocutors highly assessed the recent visit of the delegation of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne to Armenia by the decree of the President of France Emanuel Macron to discuss the prospects of cooperation in spheres of mutual interest, exchanged views on further steps to be undertaken.

Foreign Ministers Aivazian and Le Drian highlighted the importance of continuing the consultations and mutual contacts at various levels.
