Phone Conversation of Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian with the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas

On November 30, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian held a phone conversation with Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas Wendy Morton.

During the conversation the sides touched upon the current situation in Artsakh and the regional developments. Minister Aivazian presented to his interlocutor the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh resulting from the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression with the involvement of foreign terrorist fighters and the steps being undertaken to address it. In this context Minister Aivazian emphasized the importance of involving relevant international organizations in creating and ensuring appropriate conditions for the return of displaced Armenians of Artsakh to their homeland.

Minister Aivazian stressed the priority of restoring and addressing the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, including through the recognition of their right to self-determination.

Sides touched upon the restoration and maintenance of stability in the South Caucasus after the war. In this regard, the Foreign Minister noted that Turkey’s expansionist aspirations can have extremely devastating consequences for the whole region.
