Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian met with the Foreign Affairs State Secretary of France Jean-Baptiste Lemoyn

On November 27, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian met with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of France and the Head of the Delegation Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, accompanying the plane of humanitarian aid sent from France to the Armenians of Artsakh.

Welcoming the members of the delegation, the Foreign Minister Aivazian expressed gratitude for the visit to Armenia and the solidarity towards the Armenians of Artsakh during this difficult period.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Armenia and the Secretary of State of France stressed the urgency of undertaking steps to address the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, provide conditions for the displaced Armenians of Artsakh to return to their homeland, and protect their rights. In that regard, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia expressed his gratitude to the Government of France and the French people for the support provided to the Armenians of Artsakh at this crucial moment.

Minister Aivazian highlighted the expansionist aspirations of Turkey in the South Caucasus, considering them as a main factor that undermines the regional security and stability. In this context from the perspective of the international and regional security both sides noted the importance of removing the foreign terrorist fighters transferred to the region by Turkey.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne exchanged views on addressing the rights and interests of the Armenians of Artsakh within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. In this context Minister Aivazian emphasized the importance of the recognition of the right to self-determination of the Armenians of Artsakh as a necessary condition for building a free, secure and dignified future in their historical homeland.
