01 October, 2020

On October 1, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had  a phone conversation with Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan informed Jean-Yves Le Drian on the incidents of deliberate targeting of journalists covering the situation in Artsakh, particularly the condition of the French journalists who were targeted by Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France touched upon the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, resulting from the large-scale military offensive  by Azerbaijan. In this regard, Minister Mnatsakanyan expressed his deep concern over the destabilizing actions of extra-regional forces, particularly over Turkey’s unconditional and unilateral military support to Azerbaijan. Ministers Mnatsakanyan and Le Drian stressed that  the direct involvement of foreign terrorist fighters in the conflict is unacceptable.

During the conversation, the sides touched upon the statement of the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, which contains a call for an immediate cessation of armed hostilities. The Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the important  role of the Co-Chairs and Co-Chair countries in neutralizing the threats to regional security.
