The newly appointed UNICEF Representative presented her credentials to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia

On August 24, the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Armenia Marianne Clark-Hattingh presented her credentials to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Artak Apitonyan.

Throughout the following conversation, the sides touched upon the issues of children's rights’ protection in Armenia and the effective cooperation with UNICEF in this direction.

The Deputy Foreign Minister presented latest developments in the legal framework regarding children’s issues, as well as current institutional reforms.

The interlocutors discussed the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ways to overcome them. The issues of child care and continuous education were identified as key preconditions for development. The issues of children protection in the most vulnerable situations, including children in border areas, were also touched upon.
