The session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in the video-conference format

On May 12, the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in a video-conference format. Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan paricipated in and delivered remarks at the session, the agenda of which included a number of issues on deepening cooperation in various spheres between the CIS participating states.

In his opening remarks Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan congratulated his colleagues on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic war and noted: “Paying tribute to the memory of the victims, remembering true reasons which led to the threat of establishment of the Nazi supremacy today oblige us to jointly resist the attempts of glorifying nazism and fascism, spreading the ideology of warmongering nationalism and xenophobia.”

With regard to the remarks of the Azerbaijani side on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Foreign Minister particularly stressed that the settlement of the conflict can be based exclusively on compromise and parity of obligations to be undertaken by the parties. “The threat or use of force are rejected, and the wording voiced today is absolutely unacceptable.”

Among other documents, the CIS Foreign Ministers signed the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation for 2021-2030, the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation in Tourism for 2021-2030, Agreement on Joint (united) Communitation System between the Armed Forces in format of interested countries of the CIS participating states, Agreement on Joint Engineering Unit for Cooperation in Humanitarian Demining and Resolving crises on the external borders of the CIS and others.
