Phone conversation of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia

On April 29, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held a phone conversation with Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.

The interlocutors discussed the challenges due to the spread of COVID-19 and the steps aimed at addressing them.

The sides discussed recent developments in the region. Touching upon the presidential and parliamentary elections held in Artsakh, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of Artsakh elections, held in compliance with high democratic standards, in terms of exercising human rights, ensuring the security of the people of Artsakh and effective development of the peace process.

During the phone conversation the sides touched upon the video conference held on April 21, between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, with the mediation and participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, which resulted in adoption of the joint five-sided statement. In this regard, both sides highly emphasized the necessity of steps aimed at adherence and consolidation of the ceasefire during the global fight against COVID-19.
