Phone conversation of Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with Philip Reeker, the U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs

On March 31, at the initiative of the U.S. side, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsaknayan held a phone conversation with Philip Reeker, the U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs.

The interlocutors exchanged detailed views on the challenges posed due to the spread of the novel coronavirus and the efforts towards overcoming them, while emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and coordination of actions in the fight against the pandemic. In this context, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan expressed his gratitude to the U.S. Government for providing financial assistance to Armenia in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan expressed his solidarity and support to his partner in the fight of the U.S. Government against the novel coronavirus.

The sides touched upon issues of peoples’ movement due to the restrictions of land and air communication. In this regard, Minister Mnatsakanyan touched upon a number of issues encountered by the citizens of Armenia in the U.S. who have no opportunity to return to Armenia, highlighting the support of the U.S. in addressing them.

At the request of his interlocutor, Minister Mnatsakanyan presented the situation caused by the military incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border the day before.

At the end of the phone conversation Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Philip Reeker underscored the mutual readiness to undertake active steps in maintaining and broadening the Armenian-U.S. cooperation agenda.
