On Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan’s meeting with Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

On February 25, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is in Geneva to participate in the 43rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, met with Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. 

Minister Mnatsakanyan expressed his gratitude to Filippo Grandi for his work and noted that Armenia highly appreciates the role of the High Commissioner in the implementation of programs aimed at ensuring the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons.   

Touching upon the developments in the Middle East and the humanitarian situation in Syria, Foreign Ministers noted that due to its historical presence and involvement in the Middle East region, Armenia closely monitors the processes in the region. Foreign Minister reiterated Armenia’s support and commitment to the Global Compact on Refugees. Both sides underlined the importance of this new format in outlining refugee problems and promoting cooperation towards their solution.

Minister Mnatsakanyan presented to his interlocutor the continuous steps Armenia takes to address the needs of Syrian Armenians and improve their lives in Armenia.
