On February 19, an event entitled “Prayer for the Residents of Wuhan: one canvas as an evidence of our united support” was held in the gallery of the Artist’s Union of Armenia and organized by Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, Armenian State Pedagogical University named after K. Abovyan, and Artist’s Union of Armenia.

In his remarks to the attendees of the ceremony, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan particularly noted. “Let us all welcome this symbolic event held under the auspices of the Artist's Union of Armenia which aims to express our support and encouragement to the  friendly people of China in the fight against novel coronavirus, and this time expressing it via culture.

There has been a continuous, upward trend in relations between our peoples through various branches of culture and events. They have contributed to mutual recognition and strengthening of friendship between our peoples. And, in these difficult times, the Armenian people support China and friendly people of China.

I should note that we follow with particular compassion the situation around the virus outbreak, which has already taken many lives. The courage and determination of the people of China facing this challenge is admirable.

We are confident that the measures taken by the government of the People’s Republic of China will make it possible to overcome the current situation and to restore normalcy to the lives of the population.

At the end of the event, the “PRAYER” canvas created by People’s Artists, Honoured Artists, and talented students was handed over to the Embassy of  China in Armenia as a sign of great respect and support for the people of China.
