Meeting of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On December 2, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who is in Armenia on an official visit.

Welcoming Minister Safadi on his first visit to Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted with satisfaction: “I welcome you in Armenia and I am pleased to have this opportunity. Relations with Jordan are important for us in both political and trade and economic context. Your country have embraced our compatriots, and we share the history of living side by side, as well as the experience of working together at the state level. We have a very promising agenda, and I believe we will move forward towards expanding it.”

The Foreign Minister of Armenia expressed confidence that the visit of the Foreign Minister of Jordan will open a new page in the history of Armenian-Jordanian friendly relations. In this context, the sides particularly emphasized the importance of holding consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries and intensifying contacts and dialogue at different levels.

In the context of perspectives of cooperation, the sides highlighted the importance of undertaking practical steps in the spheres of trade, economy, science, education, creative education, agriculture, tourism, as well as through creating relevant platforms with the engagement of direct actors.

Both sides highly appreciated the role of the Armenian community in Jordan's public and political life, which is also a unique link between the two countries.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors touched upon the issues of international and regional agenda, exchanged opinions on the political processes in the Middle East. Minister Mnatsakanyan briefed Ayman Safadi on the latest developments in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, emphasizing Armenia's principled position and approaches in the peace process.

At the end of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Jordan held a joint press conference.

Earlier the same day, the delegation headed by Ayman Safadi visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and paid tribute to the memory of the Holy Martyrs.
