Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Peter Eriksson, Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden

Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Peter Eriksson, Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden.

On November 4, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is in Stockholm on a working visit to participate in the Ministerial dialogue dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership, met with Peter Eriksson, Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden.

The interlocutors thoroughly  touched upon a wide range of issues related to the Armenian-Swedish bilateral relations. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Peter Eriksson highlighted mutual readiness to take practical steps towards expanding and enriching  bilateral cooperation, expressing hope that the upward development of bilateral, multilateral relations will result in tangible results.

In this respect, the maintenance of dynamics of political dialogue at different levels  and the full use of the  parliamentary platform’s potential was highlighted. 

Exchange of experience in the spheres of Innovation, High Technologies, Creative Education,  Health Care, Tourism as well as the promotion of cooperation directed to the waste management were singled out as traditional priority directions.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Peter Eriksson outlined the prospects of cooperation in the field of alternative and renewable energy production. Promotion of regional cooperation between Armenia and Sweden was also highlighted.

Minister Mnatsakanyan and Peter Eriksson highlighted the importance of taking steps in the implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which is the new legal basis with the EU and EU member states.

Minister Mnatsakanyan briefed Peter Eriksson on the ambitious agenda of reforms in Armenia reaffirming clear commitment of the Government directed to strengthening the capacities of democratic institutions, ensuring the rule of law and fight against corruption.

In this process, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan highly appreciated the continuous support provided by the Government of Sweden. The two sides commended the launch of the   Bilateral Development Cooperation Program with Armenia and Sweden.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on a number of issues on the regional agenda.
