Political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenian and the Czech Republic

On October 21, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Czech Republic were held in the Czech Republic, chaired by Avet Adonts, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia and Ales Chmelar, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic. 

During the consultations, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the Armenian- Czech relations, reflecting on the dynamics of development of relations and anticipated developments in bilateral, multilateral and EU formats and reaffirmed mutual desire and commitment to strengthen relations.

The two sides noted with satisfaction the experience of cooperation on international platforms, highlighting the importance of regular consultations at international organizations, in particular on the issues of vital importance to Armenia and the Czech Republic.

The Armenian side highly appreciated the balanced position of the Czech Republic on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on international platform.

During the consultations, the two sides touched upon Armenia-EU agenda, achievements of the Eastern Partnership, the current situation, prospects of developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in that format.

Avet Adonts also presented the importance of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement for Armenia and reflected on Armenia’s involvement in the European Economic Union ( EEU).

In this context, Avet Adonts also presented the recent internal political developments, current reform process in Armenia and the importance of cooperation with EU member states and international structures on the agenda, which also received a positive response from the Czech side.

The sides also touched upon issues of regional and international importance, in particular the regional developments in the Caucasus and in the  Middle East.

Avet Adonts also presented the  latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, underscoring the importance of full support of the EU to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic presented the domestic political developments in the Czech Republic, spoke about the current priorities of the Czech Republic presidency at Visegrád Group and at the EU in 2022, as well as briefed on the position of the Czech side on the issues of European and regional importance, reflecting also on the situation in the Middle East.

At the end of consultations, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Avet Adonts and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Aleš Chmelař  signed the Protocol on Implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Czech Republic on the Readmission Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union.

On the same day, Rudolf Jindrak, Head of the External Relations Department, Office of the President of the Czech Republic, received Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia at the office of the President of the Czech Republic.

On October 22, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia had a meeting with Ondřej Veselý, the newly appointed Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
