The meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Artsakh

On September 20 Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met Foreign Minister of Artsakh Masis Mayilyan. 

Foreign Ministers attached high importance to regular meetings and consultations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh. The interlocutors reflected on the plan of consultations signed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and practical steps towards its implementation.

Ahead of meeting in New York between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Artsakh clarified their positions on the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh issue and other issues high on the agenda.

Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated that security and status of Artsakh people are priorities. He emphasized that in terms of ensuring effectiveness of the peace process, Artsakh's decisive voice and engagement in negotiations as a main side of the conflict are of particular importance. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Masis Mayilyan also exchanged views on creating an environment conducive to peace, noting that the destructive statements by Azerbaijani authorities do not contribute to the commitment of preparing  populations for peace.
