Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan’s meeting with George Kent, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

On May 7, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received George Kent, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, who arrived in Armenia to participate in session of  U.S.-Armenian strategic dialogue, along with high-level officials from USAID, U.S. Department of Commerce and a number of Agencies of US State Department.

Welcoming the guests Minister Mnatsakanyan noted, that Armenian-American ties have a solid basis and Armenia is keen to take steps for further strengthen the bilateral agenda. In this regard, the sides highlighted the importance of the Armenian-American strategic dialogue as well as mutual visits and meetings on regular basis within various formats, which gives an opportunity to discuss further steps for expanding the partnership agenda.

Minister Mnatsakanyan presented domestic political developments in Armenia and Government’s reforms being implemented on the basis of broad popular mandate. In this regard, the Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the importance of consistent cooperation with the international partners aimed at advancing democratic reforms in Armenia and strengthening the achievements reached.

In the course of the meeting, a wide range of issues on bilateral and multilateral partnership was discussed. The sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international urgent issues.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed the Deputy Assistant Secretary on the approaches to and the principled position of Armenia with regards to the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
