The meeting of Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan with students and professors of the YSU Faculty of International Relations

On April 25, students of the International Relations Faculty of the Yerevan State University visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, accompanied by Gegham Petrosyan, the Dean of the faculty and Vahram Petrosyan, the Head of the Chair. Within the framework of the visit they had a meeting with Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

Welcoming the guests, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized that following the declaration of independence, the Alma Mater had its unique contribution to the establishment of diplomatic service, which was carried out in the condition of the limited resources of the country. The Minister expressed hope that the cooperation between the University and the Foreign Ministry will be consistent.

Touching upon the peculiarities of diplomatic service, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted that it is a service which requires great responsibility and dedication, but at the same time a creative work.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented Armenia’s foreign policy priorities and underlined  that during the past 27 years, Armenia has been building its security architecture, which is based on the principle of comprehensive and cooperative security, including the politico-military security, as well as the security of Armenia’s state and social institutions, economic and social development.

Referring to the regional and international issues, Minister Mnatsakanyan presented  Armenia's positions and approaches to those issues, the peculiarities of Armenia’s relations with neighboring countries and answered a number of students' questions.

Gegham Petrosyan, the Dean of YSU Faculty of International Relations thanked for warm welcome and useful lecture, emphasizing that this formats provide an opportunity to the students to learn at first hand about the foreign policy priorities of Armenia.

At the end of the meeting Minister Mnatsakanyan awarded Doctor of History, Professor Gegham Petrosyan and Doctor of History, Associate Professor Vahram Petrosyan with 2nd degree Medal of Honor of the MFA of Armenia, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of YSU Faculty of International Relations. Afterwards, Memorandum of Cooperation between the Foreign Ministry of Armenia and the YSU Faculty of International Relations was signed.
