The Meeting of the Foreign Minister with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of France

On April 17, within the framework of his working visit to Paris, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a meeting with  Marielle de Sarnez, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly.

Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that his visit is a good opportunity to touch upon the wide agenda of Armenian-French relations, the traditional close relations between two nations, the sense of which is everywhere.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues of the Armenian-French bilateral agenda were discussed. In this regard, the interlocutors commended the role of parliamentary diplomacy, reiterating the readiness to engage in close cooperation. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan informed Marielle de Sarnez about the newly formed Armenia-France Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly of Armenia, underlining that the Armenian side will spare no effort to further strengthen relations based on the friendship of the two countries and rich historical traditions.

Minister Mnatsakanyan touched upon the domestic political developments in Armenia, the broad agenda of reforms being implemented by the government, which focuses on advancement of innovation and technology driven economy. The interlocutors agreed that the close ties in the spheres of IT, innovation and creative education, established within the framework of Armenian-French multifaceted collaboration, have a great potential for the further development and deepening.

Touching upon the relations between Armenia and the European Union, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan particularly highlighted the importance of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement in terms of advancing the implementation process of ongoing reforms in Armenia and the Government’s development agenda, as well as boosting relations with EU and EU member states both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a number of urgent international and regional issues.
