On January 17th Ambassador of Armenia to the United States Varuzhan Nersesyan met with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). Ambassador Nersesyan congratulated the Senator on his recent re-election. He also thanked the Senator for his congratulatory letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following the December 9 snap parliamentary elections, as well as his efforts towards the recognition of the Armenian genocide.

Ambassador briefed Senator Whitehouse on the recent developments in Armenia’s political processes and the agenda of the US-Armenia cooperation. The Ambassador highlighted the Armenian Government’s willingness to expand and deepen Armenian-American relations and underlined the role of the Senator and the friends of Armenia at the Senate.

The interlocutors stressed the active involvement of the Armenian community of Rhode Island in different areas, as well as in strengthening US-Armenia relations.
