Zohrab Mnatsakanyan participated in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of CSTO member states

On September 26, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia participated in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of CSTO member-states held in New York.

Foreign Ministers discussed issues related to cooperation within the framework of 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, presented their priorities within the UN, touched upon the initiatives of the CSTO member states in the UN and their reciprocal support, exchanged views on current CSTO activities.

In his remarks Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of that traditional format of Ministerial meeting as an effective platform for foreign policy coordination.

During the meeting the sides also exchanged views on the process related to replacement of the CSTO Secretary General.

Ministers of the CSTO member states were briefed on the issues related to the sessions of Collective Security Council and the statutory bodies to be held in Astana in November, as well as working agenda of the organization.

At the end of the meeting the Foreign Ministers signed statements on the аctivation of CSTO cooperation with regional organizations, situation in Afghanistan, the strengthening of ISIS positions in the northern provinces of the country and the increased threat of narcotic drugs spread from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East and North Africa.
