Concert in Tallinn dedicated to the Centenaries of Armenia and Estonia

On September 18, the Armenian Embassy in Estonia (residence in Vilnius) with the support of the Estonian and Armenian Ministries of Culture and the Union of Armenians of Estonia in the historic Black Heads House of Tallinn organized an event dedicated to the Centenaries of Armenia and Estonia, as well as to the 27th anniversary of Independence of Armenia.

Estonian parliamentarians, high-ranking officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture of Estonia, Ambassadors accredited in Estonia, members of the diplomatic corps, Estonian intellectuals, journalists and representatives of the Armenian community were present at the event.

At the beginning of the concert, the representative of the Ministry of Culture of Estonia Heili Jõe delivered a welcoming speech, conveying the message of Mr. Indrek Saar, Minister of Culture. Heili Jõe noted that the Armenian-Estonian cultural relations agenda is full of various events, which reflects the depth and strength of the Armenian-Estonian friendship.

Armenian Ambassador to Estonia Tigran Mkrtchyan in his opening speech at the event touched upon the cultural events held in the two countries throughout the year and noted that the year was unprecedented in terms of bilateral cultural diversity.

In his remarks the Ambassador also touched upon the bilateral political agenda, expressing his gratitude to the Estonian authorities for being the first to ratify the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and for the continued support of the Armenia-EU dialogue.

During the evening, the Armenian distinguished artist Hayk Melikyan performed the works by the Armenian composers Komitas, Arno Babajanyan, Harutyun Delalyan, as well as the Estonian composers Arvo Pärt, Urmas Sisask, Lepo Sumera and other renowned authors.
