Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Rubinyan with the newly appointed Representative of the UN World Food Programme in Armenia

On August 3, Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Rubinyan received the newly appointed Representative of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in Armenia Jelena Milošević on the occasion of handing over of her credentials.

Congratulating Jelena Milošević on her appointment, Ruben Rubinyan highlighted the effective cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the UN WFP in the context of implementation of various projects in Armenia. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the success of Armenia in recent years in providing school meals and the accumulated experience in this regards, which had become the reason for holding in Armenia in September 2016 of the 18th Global Child Nutrition Forum.

The interlocutors emphasized that as the result of implementation of the Sustainable school meals programme thousands of children in various marzes (regions) of Armenia are provided with school meals.

The sides also attached an importance to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the goals of which in large part relate to the issues of improving the health and nutrition of children and mothers.

The sides touched upon further steps aimed at deepening the mutually beneficial cooperation.

Reference: The large-scale programme "Sustainable school meals" started in 2010, is being implemented by the Government of Armenia and the UN World Food Programme, with the financing of the Government of the Russian Federation.
