“Economic diplomacy” workshop held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia

On November 1-2, “Economic Diplomacy” two-day workshop was held at the MFA of Armenia, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and held with the support of the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group /WBG/.

Robert Harutyunyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, delivered opening remarks at the workshop.

Experts representing WBG - Ivan Anton Nimac, Head of the Trade and Competitiveness Global Practice section of Vienna Office, Robert White, Global investment promotion specialist, Jana Krajcovicova, investment policy specialist - presented the peculiarities of international economic diplomacy, political and institutional frameworks, methods of attracting investments and implementing investment policy, as well as the role of diplomats in that process.

The experts discussed in details the best practices of promoting investments, the competitiveness of the field, the national strategy of foreign investments, the role and scope of authority of state institutions in promoting investments, the process of increasing the awareness and generating interest among the investors, as well as, the methods of converting that interest into a decision to make investment. The agenda of the workshop also focused on such topics as monitoring and evaluation, managing relations with investors, appeal regulations and other topics related to the field.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Development and Investments and the Development Fund of Armenia participated in the event.
